Mighty Earth responds to JBS’s removal of any reference to its Net Zero 2040 target and zero deforestation targets from its 2025 Sustainability report.

Gemma Hoskins, Global Climate Lead at Mighty Earth said:

“JBS has been making noises for some time about its waning commitment to Net Zero 2040 and zero deforestation targets and now it has finally come clean that they were bogus all along.”

“Backtracking on measurable targets doesn’t diminish the scrutiny JBS will face for its climate and nature-wrecking record of pollution, deforestation, land grabbing, human rights abuses and corruption.”

“JBS wasn’t honest with its customers, its investors or the regulators about its dire climate and nature performance. And now it plans to keep avoiding responsibility for its role in destroying the Amazon and Cerrado and for more climate pollution than the entire country of Spain.”
