Cindy Schwartz, the Chief of Staff and Chief Operating Officer, comes to Mighty Earth with over 30 years of political, legislative, and non-profit management experience. She has managed federal, state, and international campaigns and worked for organizations like the League of Conservation Voters, Physicians for Human Rights, and the US Campaign to Ban Landmines. She was the Executive Director of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters and most recently the Managing Director of Advocacy and Operations at the American Institute of Architects.

Cindy is a long-time environmentalist, and worked on issues ranging from protecting the Chesapeake Bay and drinking water, removing toxic chemicals from the workplace, climate change, air pollution, and land use. She was attracted to Mighty Earth because of our mission “to protect half of Earth for Nature and secure a climate that allows life to flourish.” Like us, she is obsessed with impact and aspires to make Mighty Earth the most effective environmental advocacy organization in the world.

She is responsible for managing all aspects of the organization, from financial management, fundraising, human resources, and strategic planning, and she provides strategic campaign guidance. She considers managing Mighty Earth’s fantastic team her most important job and works every day to help them succeed.

Cindy is a homebody at heart and loves spending time with her husband Rick, son Matty, and their fabulous dogs, Kobe Bryant and Kimchi. She loves to cook and bake and then share the results with friends.
