Casey Nitsch

Casey is Mighty Earth’s Development Director. She brings more than ten years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising with a focus in foundation, federal, and corporate relationships to her role at Mighty Earth.

She began her career with The Arc of the United States, building a funding portfolio to advance The Arc’s work to promote the civil and human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She developed partnerships to launch and sustain projects on health care access, sexual violence, criminal justice reform, integrated employment, and self-determination for people with disabilities. Prior to joining Mighty Earth, she was Director of Advancement for Camp Happy Days, raising funds to provide therapeutic outdoor recreation opportunities for kids facing cancer.

Casey received her BA in Foreign Language and Communications Media and BA/MA in Philosophy and Social Policy from American University, where her coursework and qualifying papers focused on applied ethics and human rights. She spends her free time hiking, camping, or with horses, and enjoys books, hot tea, and her cat, Penny. She and Penny live in Charleston, South Carolina with her partner Tim.
