Food Estates in Papua: World’s Largest Deforestation Project
11 November, 2:00 – 3:00 PM | Asia Solutions Pavilion | With Pusaka and Satya Bumi
This session will provide background information on past failures of state-backed food estate projects, the current state of deforestation and community rights issues in Merauke, and potential solutions for Indonesia’s journey to food security and land restoration. Panelists will discuss policy and financial interventions, in addition to ongoing campaigns and research, all of which are working to put a halt to the biggest potential deforestation project in the world.

Just Transition in Food Systems: Roadmaps and Perspectives
12 November, 6:30 – 8:00 PM | UNFCCC Pavilion – Side Event Room 4 | With Brighter Green, ActionAid, Action Against Hunger, and World Animal Protection
A just transition must also tackle food systems, as the impacts of climate change deepen, threatening food security, livelihoods and biodiversity. This session brings together perspectives from different regions to explore just food transition roadmaps. Panelists will discuss policies, financial mechanisms, and structural changes needed to ensure a transition that is just and inclusive—one that works for people and communities, animals and nature.

Promises vs. Reality: The Role of Big Meat in Undermining Climate Action
15 November, 12:00 – 1:00 PM | Action on Food Hub | With Changing Markets
The session will expose how the meat industry sustains its harmful “business as usual” model through greenwashing and disinformation. In Brazil, meat giants drive deforestation, land grabbing, and rights violations while promoting false sustainability claims—even at COP. Despite scientific consensus on the need to cut animal production and consumption, Big Meat pushes the opposite narrative to protect profits. Drawing parallels with Big Oil’s tactics, the session highlights impact on Indigenous Peoples, farmers, and the planet, and calls for urgent action toward fair and sustainable food systems. Beyond Factory Farming: Accelerating Global Protein Transition for Climate and Forests
19 November, 2:00 – 3:15 PM | Asia Climate Solutions Pavilion | With Good Food Institute APAC, International Vegetarian Union, Solutions for Our Climate, and Vegetarian Society of Denmark
The livestock sector is a leading driver of deforestation, biodiversity loss, and rising emissions, threatening global climate goals. Alternative proteins offer a viable path to meet rising protein demand while sharply reducing pressure on forests and land. Yet policy, regulatory standards, and investment for R&D remain far behind the pace of need. This session explores global and regional growth pathways to accelerate protein transition and advance low-carbon food systems, with an emphasis on Asia’s pivotal role.

Solutions for Big Meat Methane Emissions
20 November, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Super Pollutant Solutions Pavilion
This event aims to discuss big meat methane emissions and possible paths to the beef supply chain to reduce its footprint, improving corporate accountability and accelerating the protein transition.
